about

Drawing inspiration from The Vaccines, Jamie T and Circa Waves, Southampton’s The Manatees infuse relatable lyrics, driving rhythms, and infectious melodies, which have caught the ears of Radio X, BBC6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’ playlist.

Their boisterous single ‘What If’ (released on Kerosene Records / Vox Humana Records) was mixed by former Spring King frontman Tarek Musa, and solidly represents the musical direction of the band. The cathartic indie track is an evocation of the uncertainty that surrounds growing up, and the everyday struggle with anxiety and stress.

‘What If’ is released with sensitive B-side ‘Flowers’, which was recorded and produced by the band themselves. Both tracks showcase The Manatees stylistic diversity, and prove their ability to connect with the listener through emotive yet catchy instrumentation and poetic lyricism wise beyond their young years.
